Worship Setlist: August 7, 2011 (Love On Sumner Day)

Yesterday was a huge day in the life of our church. We celebrated twenty years at this campus. But the ringing importance of yesterday was not in what we did inside the walls. After the single morning worship service with thousands of people crammed into the Worship Center, more than 1000 people left the building and went to work all over Sumner County. There were over twenty projects to tackle from painting high schools to block parties to hanging out with senior citizens at retirement homes. It was amazing to serve our community with such power and purpose. After the projects were completed, we gathered back at our Family Ministry Center for food and blow-up games. Delightful.

The coolest part about the whole day was knowing that we really could have thrown some big party that said “look at us, we’re awesome and we’ve been awesome for the past twenty years”, and it would have been lots of fun for everyone and their dog. But our leadership felt strongly that the only way to enter into this new era is to bolster our calling to serve and love our community with the love of Jesus by going to them, serving them, not just asking them to come to us. I’m proud to be part of a body and a church staff that has that as a priority.

Since The Bridge service was combined with the other services yesterday, here’s what we sang in worship for our birthday celebration, Love On Sumner Day:

  • O God Our Help - Charles Billingsley, “God Of The Ages”  |  iTunes
  • Come Thou Fount, Come Thou King - Gateway Worship, “Living For You”  |  iTunes
  • Hosanna - Brooke Fraser, “The I Heart Revolution”  |  iTunes
  • Praise The Lord (Psalm 103) - Michael Neale, “Bigger Than Life”  |  iTunes
  • I Need Thee Every Hour, Traditional  |  iTunes

I seriously loved being all together as a church family yesterday. And it was really amazing serving as a body all over Sumner County. Have a great week!

Worship Setlist: July 24 + July 31, 2011

Bonjour. Good day. How is your family? I trust you’ve been well since I last posted. I was on vacation last week with my wife Jill, my dad, my sister Katye and her boyfriend Jason in none other than THE Disney World. It was utterly indescribable. Disturbingly ineffable. Altogether a whopper of a trip. It was Jill’s first time to the great world of Walt Disney, and my favorite part of the entire trip was seeing her face during Fantasmic, Beauty & The Beast, and the Princess breakfast in Cinderella’s castle. She nearly exploded several times. We partied hardy Disney style like little 5 year old girls, and laughed more than we had in a long, long time. It felt good to be a kid again.

Jeff Henry did an amazing job leading you all last Sunday. I really appreciate him stepping in for me and I love how he leads in worship.

[I watched the video of the service if you’re wondering how I saw him…]

Here are the songs Jeff led last Sunday and those from yesterday in The Bridge.

July 24, 2011:

  • O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing - David Crowder Band, “Remedy”  |  iTunes
  • Our God - Chris Tomlin, “And If Our God Is For Us”  |  iTunes
  • Furious - Jeremy Riddle, “Be Lifted High”  |  iTunes
  • Forever Reign - Hillsong, “A Beautiful Exchange”  |  iTunes

July 31, 2011:

  • Come Thou Fount - Trinity Grace Church, “Without End”  |  iTunes
  • Like A Lion - Kristian Stanfill, “Mountains Move”  |  iTunes
  • Beautiful Jesus - Kristian Stanfill, “Attention”  |  iTunes
  • Take My Life - Chris Tomlin, “Passion: Hymns Ancient & Modern”  |  iTunes
  • Lift High - Fee, “We Shine”  |  iTunes

Have a bippity boppity beautiful day. I don’t care how lame that is. I’m sticking with it.

Worship Setlist: July 17, 2011

Worship in The Bridge was great yesterday. I always say I love seeing people worship. When their heart just can’t contain all the praise and their faces, hands, and feet have to kick into gear. It’s inspiring and awesome to watch and be a part of. It’s a beautiful cycle of communal worship.

Erin Holloway gave a great testimony about finding a place to serve in the church. She serves in the preschool area. We also took the Lord’s Supper yesterday in all our of services. I loved how we did ours in The Bridge. We backed the taking of the elements with a great song by Matt Maher called Remembrance (Communion Song). Obviously, it was perfect for the occasion. Lots of fun and a great time of worship that we don’t always get to experience.

Here’s what we sang in worship:

  • Say Say - Kristian Stanfill, “Passion: Awakening”  |  iTunes
  • Glory To God Forever - Fee, “Hope Rising”  |  iTunes
  • Christ Is Risen - Matt Maher, “Alive Again”  |  iTunes
  • Remembrance (Communion Song) - Matt Maher, “Alive Again”  |  iTunes
  • All To Us - Chris Tomlin, “Passion: Here For You”  |  iTunes

I hope you have an awesome week. Don’t forget to set your alarm for 10:02 to pray for workers for our church’s ministries this fall.

And check out Mark Satterfield’s new blog!

Worship Setlist: July 3 + July 10, 2011

The past two Sundays have been really good in The Bridge. God is really working on me, teaching me what it is to worship Him. He’s showing me it’s not this ritualistic voodoo that we chant on Sunday mornings and stand up when we change keys, but a response to the contrast of my character and His. And that doesn’t stop when we head off to lunch after the services. Thankfulness, awe, honest confession, joy. It’s engrained in this new Man that’s He’s created. I pray this reality for our church. That we would be honest in our worship to give Him praise from exactly where we are, not where someone says we should be or even where we think we should be. With our own unique voices all giving Him honor for our own unique lives. I believe it will happen.

Here’s what we sang in The Bridge the past two Sundays.

July 3:

  • Like A Lion - David Crowder Band, “Passion: Awakening”  |  iTunes
  • All To Us - Chris Tomlin, “And If Our God Is For Us”  |  iTunes
  • Always - Kristian Stanfill, “Passion: Here For You”  |  iTunes
  • God Of This City - Chris Tomlin, “Hello Love”  |  iTunes
  • Rise And Sing - Fee, “Hope Rising”  |  iTunes

July 10:

  • Rise And Sing - Fee, “Hope Rising”  |  iTunes
  • We Crown You - Fee, ”Hope Rising”  |  iTunes
  • Forever Reign - Hillsong, “A Beautiful Exchange”  |  iTunes
  • Spring Of Life - Kristian Stanfill, “Hello”  |  iTunes

I hope you’re doing well. Let me know if I can do anything for you. And you can always ask me a question by clicking the “Ask Me Anything” tab. See you soon!

Worship Setlist: June 26, 2011

Yesterday was interesting. A good interesting. The first service was awesome: Bruce taught a killer message on how faith unproven by works is completely useless and we worshiped with some amazing songs. It was really powerful stuff.

The second service, well, didn’t.

We decided to bring everyone up the ‘hill’ to join the Worship Center crew for the 11:00 service. It ended up being pretty cool. Neither Mark nor myself get to ever do that, and it was refreshing being a part of the congregation we never see. Bruce’s message was even stronger the second time around, and the Voices of Mobile were great.

It feels good to change things up every now and then. It keeps me feeling human.

Here are the songs we sang in The Bridge:

  • Say Say - Kristian Stanfill, “Passion: Awakening”  |  iTunes
  • Like A Lion - David Crowder Band, “Passion: Awakening”  |  iTunes
  • From The Inside Out - Kristian Stanfill, “Hello”  |  iTunes
  • Lift High - Fee, “We Shine”  |  iTunes

That’s all for now. Hope you’re having a great Monday so far.
